I’ve been lucky to travel all over the world, often through photography jobs that took me from city to city. These images were taken over a span of years but I keep them together in a folder of favorite travel shots. Different places, different moments, all still worth holding on to.
Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. I was there on an Etihad shoot and caught someone in traditional dress moving through the arches as the light dropped quickly into night.
Paris. I was there for fashion week and had one day off to wander. I took this frame while exploring and have wanted to go back ever since.
Nazaré, Portugal. Known for giant waves, but the day I was there the ocean was almost flat. From the cliff I watched a lone bird cross the grey, overcast beach.
New York, East River. Shot from the window of a short stay in South Williamsburg. I only rented a bedroom, but the view with the ferry and skyline was pretty amazing.
Mexico City. From the top floor of Torre Latinoamericana’s Nivel 40 (or Miralto), I shot the hills behind the city. We’d felt an earthquake the day before, so being up that high was equal parts awe and nerves.
Lisbon. I was stuck here for about a month waiting for my first US visa to clear. Most nights I’d head out on long walks with my camera. This tram yard became a quiet stop on those routes.
Williamsburg Bridge, New York. I loved living in Williamsburg and the eternal tourist in me never gets used to seeing yellow school buses that I grew up spotting on American TV shows.
New South Wales, Australia. Shot on a New Year camping trip with friends. A small group of kangaroos grazed near our campsite with a faint rainbow hanging over the trees. I miss home.
Looking back at these frames reminds me how scattered and disconnected the past few years have been. Work took me to most of these places but the camera gave me reasons to pause and keep a piece of each one. Ending on that quiet campsite in Australia feels right, a small reminder of home after all the miles.
